On May 2, 2011, history was made and Canadians elected a strong, stable, national, majority government. Without you, none of this would have happened. So today, I would like to offer my sincere personal thanks for your contribution to our victory.

During the campaign, our government made a pledge – that we would hit the ground running on day one, and we are delivering on that. In fact on June 2, just a month after Election Day, our government returned to Ottawa to continue our efforts on behalf of Canadians, and because of your support, I will returned to the House of Commons to continue my efforts on behalf of the people of Halton.

Canadians gave our Conservative government a strong mandate to focus on what matters – the economy and jobs. While Canada has seen over 560,000 new jobs created since July 2009 and seven consecutive quarters of economy growth, we are not immune to economic storms outside our borders.

We still face a fragile global economic recovery and too many Canadians remain looking for work.    

That’s why we are squarely focused on implementing the Next Phase of Canada’s Economic Action Plan: A Low-Tax Plan for Jobs and Growth to keep Canada’s economy on the right track with measures like the Hiring Credit for Small Business.

Our government will continue to work hard for you. Staying the course with our prudent, low-tax plan will support Canada’s economic recovery and help create jobs.
