Raitt pleased with Town Hall Meetings
January 22, 2010

Fresh off a series of broad based consultation meetings held over the weekend, Lisa Raitt expressed her sincere appreciation to everyone who came out and participated in the Discussion on the Priorities for Halton.

"We had close to 300 people come out to express their opinions and provide suggestions to me," said Lisa Raitt, Member of Parliament for Halton. "These contributions will be an essential part of setting the government's agenda for the next session of parliament."

Raitt credited consultations like this held here in Halton and across the country last year for developing and producing Canada's Economic Action Plan which many economists have credited with protecting families and stimulating the economy.

These meetings will provide essential submissions that the government will consider as it prepares to enter the next phase of Canada's Economic Action Plan that will be launched with a Throne Speech on March 3rd and a Budget on March 4th.

Raitt encouraged those who may have been unable to attend these meetings to contact the local constituency office so comments can be submitted.

"I will continue to work over the coming weeks to ensure that Halton's voice is at the table," continued Raitt. "I look forward with enthusiasm to reviewing the input collected during these town hall meetings and I have great hope that it will help me become a better representative for the people of Halton."
