CANADA – ONTARIO PARTNERSHIP CREATES JOBS AND STIMULATES ECONOMY IN MILTON
June 12, 2009

Raitt Joins Flynn and Krantz to announce Federal Contributions close to $15 Million for Local Projects

MILTON, ONTARIO. On Friday June 12th 2009 Lisa Raitt, Member of Parliament for Halton announces that residents of Milton will benefit from federal and provincial infrastructure funding to build the Milton Arts and Cultural Centre and expand the Milton Sports Centre.

Lisa Raitt was also joined by Mayor Gordon Krantz and Kevin Flynn, MPP for Oakville who announced that the contribution would be matched by the province. This project is just one example of both governments’ commitment to stimulating the Ontario economy through the creation of jobs in our communities.

“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Stephen Harper, our Government is getting shovels in the ground and flowing money faster to stimulate the economy and create jobs for Ontarians,” said Minister Raitt. “Thanks to the strong relationship between our two governments, we can work together to help Ontario communities and the economy thrive immediately and in the future.”

These projects will support a healthier environment, enhance local facilities, improve sports and recreation in the community and create local jobs.

“Under the leadership of Premier Dalton McGuinty, Ontario is leading the way,” said Kevin Flynn. “Our governments are working together to modernize infrastructure - creating a competitive advantage that attracts business and strengthens our economy today and into the future.”

The governments of Canada and Ontario will each invest up to $16.2 million in the project. The Town of Milton will contribute the balance of the total eligible project cost of up to 8.1 million.
